1. Make Sure You Can Afford the Property

Before putting an offer on a property, make sure you can afford it. Knowing exactly how much you can spend is crucial and is the most important factor. Carefully examine how much money you have and how much money you may need to borrow from the bank. Knowing the value of your assets can also help if you need to first sell a property to fund your purchase in Spain.

2. Permanent Living, Holiday Home or investment property?

It is not the same if you are purchasing a property for your holidays or if it is because you are retiring to Spain. And if you are just buying for investment then it also would not be the same. One use or another can determine the negotiations. If you are only coming for holidays and renting out the rest of the year, you might be able to compromise a lower budget property thinking on the returns. 3. Do some research on the property and the vendor

5. Bargain

Make an offer and try to beat the asking price. You have to negotiate to get the best price available, but if you are too aggressive with your offer, the vendor might reject your offer. You must be polite and show respect for the improvements made on the property; even though you must deduct from the offer price other rcosts for more improvements which might need to be made on the property.
